Warframe: Update 44.1.0: Iceblade of Narin: The Icebind

Warframe: Update 44.1.0: Iceblade of Narin: The Icebind

TL;DR

Warframe Update 44.1.0 adds The Icebind, a new six-player mission type with randomized mission traits, squad voting, and a guaranteed Riven Splicer reward. It also introduces Riven Splicing, a new system for combining specific Riven traits into new spliced traits. The update includes several gameplay changes, including defense-objective durability adjustments and a new way to buy Riven Slots.

What Changed

  • Added The Icebind, a new mission type tied to Cryobells at Yuvan Peak.
  • The Icebind supports six-player squads with no duplicate Warframes.
  • Missions are approximately 10–15 minutes long and feature level 999+ enemies.
  • Each Cryobell rolls a randomized mix of:
  • mission type
  • planet
  • enemy type
  • mission bind
  • tactical bind
  • personal bind
  • The mission pool includes Survival, Mobile Defense, Excavation, and Disruption.
  • The mode includes multiple restrictions and modifiers, including:
  • No Self Revives
  • Gear Cooldown Increase
  • Empowered Enemies
  • Last Gasp Penalty
  • Bleedout Shortens
  • Frozen Keys
  • Fatigued Companions
  • Stunted Shields
  • Players can complete The Icebind three times per week, with the ability to stockpile up to six Cryobells.
  • Access requires completion of Angels of the Zariman and Whispers in the Walls, plus unlocking either Elite Temporal Archimedea or Elite Deep Archimedea.
  • Added Riven Splicing, which lets players combine specific Riven traits into new spliced traits using Riven Splicers earned from The Icebind.
  • Added new items to Cephalon Melica’s Classroom Supplies:
  • Glacial Laboratory Captura Scene
  • Tethyan Parchment
  • Tatters decorations
  • Added Complexion B-17 [Legacy] to the Drifter/Operation Complexion menu.
  • Changed Riven Slot purchases so players can now buy 1 Riven Slot for 20 Platinum instead of only bundles of 3.
  • Defense-related objectives now have 90% damage reduction against Blitz Eximus shockwave attacks and Defense Objectives now benefit from shieldgating.
  • Entropic Eximus can no longer spawn as Helions.
  • Several vendor Kuva bundle costs and purchase limits were adjusted.
  • The Events tab now sorts recurring events by most recently started.
  • Added the Shedu Day of the Dead Skin to Nightwave Cred Offerings.
  • Performance improvements were made for Oberon’s Smite, Frost’s Avalanche, and Last Gasp, along with texture streaming memory optimization.

Player Impact

The biggest gameplay change is The Icebind itself. It pushes squads into a coordinated six-player format with strict Warframe duplication limits, randomized mission conditions, and several mission-wide restrictions. That means squad composition and coordination matter more than in standard missions, especially because there is no public matchmaking at launch.

The mode also changes reward flow. Players earn a guaranteed Riven Splicer on completion, and optional Squad Side Objectives can add Frozen Keys for extra chest rewards. Since side objectives can fail the mission if started and not completed, players will need to decide whether the extra rewards are worth the added risk.

Riven-focused players get a new progression path through Riven Splicing. The system lets specific trait combinations create new spliced traits, and the update says the result is shown before confirmation. That makes the new system a meaningful addition for players who work with Rivens regularly.

The Riven Slot change is also practical for inventory management. Instead of being forced into 3-slot bundles, players can now buy slots one at a time, which gives more flexibility when approaching the cap.

The defense-objective changes should make those objectives more resilient against Blitz Eximus shockwaves, while the shieldgating update gives Defense Objectives additional protection. The update does not state a broader meta impact, but these changes clearly affect how some objective-based missions behave in play.
